Yesterday morning, after a hard night's rain, I caught this little critter wanting to homestead my carport. This mudbug, also known as a crayfish, crawfish or crawdad, was more than willing to fight me for his space. When alarmed, the mudbug will raise its claws threateningly, the fanshaped tail then propels the mudbug backward, flinging mud at the enemy. I'm glad we were in my carport and not a mudflat!
