"Gingerbread" architecture is a style of folk architecture widely applied to homes in America from about 1870 to 1910; especially characterized by the heavy use of ornate spindle work and bargeboards. These elaborate embellishments were usually added to an older house to update it or included in a new house to make it appear more trendy. Unlike the witch's famous "Gingerbread House" which Hansel and Gretel stumbled upon in the woods, this house was not embellished with candy or icing. Thus, I am assuming a witch does not reside here.
